This live concert is a combination of works by Sousa and the “Bohemian Sousa” although the program is more than just marches. The Sousa marches are The Gladiator, Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company and Across the Danube. Also included are Concert Waltzes: La Reine De La Mer, Second Fantasia from El Capitan, Humoresque: The Band Came Back, and two excerpts from the suite People Who Live in Glass Houses (Whisky and Cordial). The Fucik marches are The Mississippi River, Fanfare Sounds, Children of the Regiment, Entry of the Gladiators and Florentiner. The other two works are the concert waltz Donausagen and the popular bassoon solo Der Alt Brummbar featuring the artistry of Yuu Kato. I’m sure the listener will find satisfaction with the more familiar compositions and those that will be new. Do not overlook this superb recording. Notes in Japanese only.
