Matthew C. Haislip currently serves as Assistant Professor of Horn at Mississippi State University, Principal Horn of the Starkville/MSU Symphony, Second Horn of the North Mississippi Symphony, Fourth Horn of the Missouri Symphony, and Fourth Horn of the Meridian Symphony. He additionally teaches at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in the summer months and has taught at Washburn University (KS), Calvary University (MO), Hardin-Simmons University (TX), and McMurry University (TX) prior to teaching at MSU. He serves the International Horn Society as Mississippi Area Representative and the Media Reviews Editor for The Horn Call, the publication’s journal. His book, Dueling Fundamentals for Two Horns, was released in 2019 by Mountain Peak Music and has been praised by leading hornists across the world, including faculty members at Northwestern University and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (UK). Haislip is a founding member of Quintasonic Brass, with whom he has performed in Zagreb, Croatia and at conferences and universities across the United States. He previously held positions in such organizations as the Midland-Odessa Symphony (TX) and the Kentucky Symphony and has performed with the Cincinnati Opera, Opera Naples (FL), Omaha Symphony, Chattanooga Symphony, Huntsville Symphony (AL), Dubuque Symphony, and the South Dakota Symphony, among others. Dr. Haislip holds degrees from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music, and Texas A&M University-Commerce. His horn teachers include Martin Hackleman, Randy Gardner, Michael Morrow, Elizabeth Freimuth, Thomas Sherwood, and Duane Dugger. Matthew Haislip is a Yamaha Performing Artist. www.matthaislip.com
