Let My Love Be Heard is a continuation of the incomparable recordings from the Concordia University Chicago Wind Symphony. The title work is by Jake Runestad and is rich in lyric beauty. Among the treasures found within are Pennsylvania Faux Songs by Johan de Meij. The composer humorously refers to this as a suite of “folk songs Pennsylvanians forgot to write” but this combination of music and whimsy is sure to please the listener. Katherine Keberlein uplifting voice adds its beauty to I Shall Love But Thee (Jan Van der Roost) while soprano Emily Pratt lends her vocal effervescence to Angels in the Architecture by Frank TIcheli. One interesting selection is David Holsinger’s A Childhood Hymn (Jesus Loves Me). This well known setting is part of the Wingert Jones Achievement series for younger musicians yet has found itself on the programs of the most professional ensembles. Few wind orchestras can match the high quality and consistency of Concordia University Chicago.
