Old Comrades: A Classic CD Revisited

2019 is the centenary observance of Vaclav Nelhybel’s birth. This legendary composer made an immense impact in the repertoire of great bands and wind ensembles. Trittico is one of Nelhybel’s most frequently performed masterworks and this performance is superlative. Also included on this magnificent recording is Feast Day in Seville (Issac Albeniz/Lucien Cailliet), Variants on a Mediaeval Tune (Norman Dello Joio) and Funeral March for Rikard Nordraak; an original wind ensemble composition by Edvard Grieg arranged by Fennell and Jan Ericksen. The final work is the Symphony #3 by Vittorio Giannini. This work may be familiar to some through the famous Eastman Wind Ensemble recording yet the conductor was A. Clyde Roller, not Fennell. Highly recommended for your listening library!
