Johan de Meij
Honor Band Conductor
Johan de Meij studied trombone and conducting at the Royal Conservatory of Music in The Hague. He has earned interna- tional fame as a composer and arranger. His "The Lord of the Rings" composition received the Sudler Composition Award in 1989. In 2001, Johan received the prestigious International Award from the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic. Besides composing and arranging, Johan de Meij is active as a performer, conductor, adjudicator and lectur- er. He was elected into the pres- tigious American Bandmasters Association in 2013.
Lowell Graham
Honor Band Conductor
Lowell Graham Director of Orchestral Activities and Professor of Conducting at the University of Texas at El Paso and is the recipient of the "Abraham Chavez' Professorship in Music. Col. Graham has held numerous conducting positions to include that of the Commander and Conductor of the United States Air Force's premier music orga- nization in Washington, DC. In March 1995, he was honored with membership in the pres- tigious American Bandmasters Association.
Larry Livingston
Honor Band Conductor
Larry Livingston is a distin- guished conductor, educator, and administrator, and a highly respected motivational speaker. The founding Music Director of the Illinois Chamber Orchestra, Livingston has appeared with the Houston Symphony and in the LA Philharmonic Green Umbrella Series. Mr. Livingston frequently appears with professional, festi- val, collegiate, and all-state wind ensembles, bands and orches- tras throughout the United States, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. From 1986 until 2002, Mr. Livingston served as Dean of the USC Thornton School of Music, where he is Chair of the Conducting Department.
Frank Tracz
Honor Band Conductor
Recognized as one of the best band directors and music educators in the nation, Frank Tracz administers and guides all aspects of the uni- versity band program. As director of the university's Marching Band, Tracz has increased its member- ship to more than 300 and has recently won the John Philip Sousa Foundation's Sudler Trophy for out- standing marching band. He has served as an adjudicator, clinician and guest conductor for all-state and honor bands across the nation and in Canada. Tracz was elect- ed to the prestigious American Bandmasters Association in 2012.
Mike Bankhead
Honor Band Conductor
Retired Commander and Conductor of the United States Air Force's premier music orga- nization in Washington, DC, Col. Bankhead recently completed his college tenure as the Chairman of the Department of Music at Utah State University. Prior to this appointment he served as conductor of the Green Bay (Wisconsin) Symphony Orchestra and was the Chairman of the Department of Music at Cal State University Chico and Sam Houston State University in Texas. He is an elected mem- ber of the prestigious American Bandmasters Association.
