Guy McKinney

Mr. Guy McKinney is the Director of Fine Arts and Bands for Mercedes ISD. Under his direction, the Mighty Tiger Marching Band and the Wind Ensemble have earned many UIL Superior Ratings. Guy is an active member of TMAA, having served as a judge for both UIL concert/sight reading evaluations in several regions and UIL solo and ensemble contest. As an active member of TMEA, he has served as coordinator for internationally renowned conductors at our Region 28 TMEA honor band clinic and concerts. Two of his masters projects were published in BandWorld Magazine and he has served as a guest conductor for the Fulton County Honors’ Band in Ohio. Most recently he has served as the organizer for the annual Queen City Marching Festival as well as the Annual UIL Pigskin Jubilee for Region 28 in Mercedes hosted at Tiger stadium. Guy earned his B.M.Ed. from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, graduating as Salutatorian of his class. (1992). He has also earned his MM from the American Band College of Southern Oregon University (1999). He resides in Rancho Viejo with his wife, Adriana, and two children, Maddy and Vivian.
