John Cheary, Jr.

John M. Cheary, Jr. was Director of Bands in Monett, Missouri since 1972. During his tenure in Monett, his bands won numerous regional awards.Since 1980, (the year he developed the Band Awards System) the Monett Middle School Band has received 24 first division ratings in state contests. In 1986, John was named "Educator of the Year" for outstanding contributions in education by the Southwest District of the Missouri State Teachers Association. Cheary received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri in 1970 and his Master of Science in Music Education degree from Southwest MissouriState University in 1979.
