Sam Ormson


Sam Ormson is an accomplished music educator with 25 years of teaching experience, including the last 21 at Mountain View High School in Vancouver, Washington. He leads the Jazz Ensemble I, Chamber Orchestra, and collaboratively teaches three concert bands while overseeing the chamber music program. His groups have gained national and international recognition with performances at the Midwest Clinic, Music for All National Festival, Tournament of Roses parade, and more.

Sam has performed and collaborated with notable artists such as the Count Basie Orchestra, David Maslanka, Gary Green, and others. He has also presented clinics at numerous state and regional conferences on teaching music. Sam's academic background includes an MA from the American Band College, Advanced Graduate Studies at Boston University and National Board Certification in Music.

He is a two-time Grammy Signature school award winner, the 2015 On-Point Community Credit Union teacher of the year, and 2017 National Band Association Blue Ribbon National Award winner. Sam is married to Carinn, a fellow music educator, and they have two sons, Jack and Henry.
