WIBC Frequently Asked Questions

If I choose the hotel lodging, is there supervision?

  • Yes, we run a very tight ship. There are six full-time, adult chaperone/hotel monitors who stay up all night. Students found out of their rooms after curfew are sent home immediately. Here are the regs that each student AND parent must sign in agreement during online registration:

    WIBC Student - Parent Agreement

    Attendance:

Students chosen to the WIBC Honor Bands are expected to be in attendance at every rehearsal. Students who miss a rehearsal will be dismissed from WIBC and sent home at the expense of the student’s family.

    School Policies:

Students chosen to the WIBC Honor Bands are expected to abide by all of the rules and policies of the schools which they attend. Students who are found breaking those policies or participating in any other illegal activities will be dismissed from WIBC and sent home at the expense of the student’s family. This includes, but is not limited to, possession or use of any alcohol, tobacco products or electronic substitutes (ie, electronic cigarettes, vaping pens) and other nonprescription drugs.

    Curfew-Damage-Behavior Agreement:

Students chosen to the WIBC Honor Bands, whether or not rooming at the DoubleTree, are expected to follow guidelines of good behavior during Western International Band Clinic. Rowdiness, destruction or defacing of hotel property will not be tolerated at any time. All students are under a strict curfew and are expected to be in their assigned rooms between 11:00 pm and 7:00 am. In consideration of other hotel guests, WIBC expects that noise will be kept to a minimum at all times. WIBC has a full-time staff of head residents who will be on duty. Any student found out of his or her assigned room after curfew or causing problems as outlined above will be sent home immediately at the expense of the student’s family.
