COVID-19 Information (Vaccination/Mask Requirement)

Updated October 27, 2021

We continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on WIBC this November. Our top priority is the health and well-being of employees, clinicians, and our WIBC participants. We are excited to report that we can present WIBC in person at the Doubletree Hotel in Seattle, Washington. Continue to visit our website for convention updates.

Masks Required
  • As of September 13 in Washington state, masks are required for everyone ages 5+ at outdoor events with 500 or more people, and continue to be required in public indoor spaces.
  • Everyone ages 5+ must wear cloth face coverings or masks regardless of vaccination status when indoors.
  • Honor band students are required to wear masks during rehearsals, when not playing. Percussionists must wear masks at all times. Bell covers are optional (but recommended).

Vaccinations Required
  • King County (Washington), WIBC, and the Doubletree Hotel are requiring all students, band directors, guest performing group members, chaperones, guest conductors, and WIBC staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to the first day of WIBC. This public health measure, at WIBC, is a critical step in reducing the potential for serious illness.
  • WIBC Honor Band Students: Your completed vaccination card must be uploaded (to your WIBC account) by Monday, Nov. 8.
  • WIBC Attending Directors: You will be required to upload your vaccination card to your WIBC director account by Thursday, Nov. 18.
  • Guest Performing Groups: All band members must contact your director.

Vaccination Exemptions
  • Students, band directors, guest performing group members, chaperones, guest conductors, and WIBC staff may seek an exemption to the vaccination requirement for medical, religious, philosophical, or other non-medical reasons.
  • Unvaccinated students, directors, guest performing group members, guest conductors, and WIBC staff, including those who are partially vaccinated or choose an exemption, are required to present proof of a negative result COVID-19 test (administered and processed) on Thursday, Nov. 18. (Earlier test results will not be accepted)
  • WIBC Honor Band Students: Upload your COVID-19 test result to your WIBC account, no earlier than Thursday, Nov. 18.
  • WIBC Attending Directors: You will be required to upload your negative COVID-19 test result to your WIBC director account, no earlier than Thursday, Nov. 18.
  • Guest Performing Groups: All band members must contact your director.

COVID-19 Tests/Results: WIBC will accept any COVID-19 test that is administered (no earlier than 11/18) and documented by a healthcare professional, pharmacy or school clinic. Documentation (PDF or JPG) must be official and include the patient's name, date of test, and location. (See example)
