The Top 100 for 2015-2016 also appears online in the January-March 2016 issue of Bandworld Magazine at www.bandworld.org. In April 2016 a second round of selections (based on favorites of WIBC attendees and new publications received after the September deadline) will comprise the reading list for the American Band College Directors’ Bands from June 19 through July 5, 2016 in Ashland, Oregon.
ABC Center for Research in Ashland, Oregon
Over 900 new and re-released compositions were considered for sight-
reading at Western International Band Clinic after submissions from more
than 25 publishers worldwide. All full scores, full band sets and record-
ings received during this period have been placed in the ABC Center for
Research. This extensive library of concert band literature and recordings
opened in June of 2000. To date, major holdings are comprised of some
46,000 items, including the private band music collections of Chicago
musician, Ira Novoselsky, as well as those of Jasper Wilson, Randall
Spicer and Max McKee. Also included are complete recording libraries
donated by Jim Keene, University of Illinois, and all major military bands
worldwide. The J.W. Pepper Company donated thousands of full scores
while several publishers have contributed a complete set of their scores
and recordings to the research library. Retiring directors with private col-
lections are encouraged to contact WIBC, Inc. as a permanent repository for their materials that will then be available to the more than 200 band directors working on their master's of Sam Houston State University through our Ashland, Oregon Distance Learning program each summer.
