The rest is history!!\r\nSpent summers after high school in New York City listening to the\r\ngreat jazz masters. Attended the first two years of Stan Kenton\r\nSummer Jazz Clinics in Bloomington , IND. Able to study under\r\nDon Jacoby, Conte Candoli, Johnny Richards, John LaPorta,\r\nShelly Manne, etc. Attended UNM for two years studying\r\nArchitecture and Commercial Art. Drafted into Army, assigned as\r\njazz soloist to NORAD BAND in Colorado Springs. After service,\r\nmoved to NYC and joined Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, rooming and\r\nplaying with legendary Charlie Shavers. After Dorsey, went to\r\nWoody Herman, Buddy Rich, Maynard Ferguson, Si Zentner,\r\nBenny Goodman. Settled in Las Vegas for 7 years playing top\r\nshow bands in casinos. 1972 moved to Los Angeles and became a\r\nfirst-call studio musician as well as continuing to play on big bands\r\nof Bill Holman, Bob Florence, Louie Bellson, Toshiko Akiyoshi,\r\nEd Shaughnessy, Bill Berry, and Nat Pierce-Frank Capp\r\nJuggernaut.\r\nDesigner \/ developer of SHEW model Yamaha 6310Z &amp; 8310Z\r\ntrumpets and 6310Z &amp; 8310Z flugelhorns. Designer of SOLOIST\r\nmute, Yamaha SHEW series trumpet and flugelhorn mouthpieces\r\nas well as SHEW series mouthpieces for the Marcinkiewicz\r\nCompany and for Kelly Mouthpieces ( Lexan mouthpieces ).\r\nAuthor of \u201cETUDES AND EXERCISES FOR JAZZ AND\r\nCLASSICAL PLAYER\u201d &amp; \u201cBASIC STUDY GUIDE FOR\r\nTRUMPET\u201d . Former Chairman for IAJE and ITG. Former Assoc.\r\nProfessor of Trpt at USC ( Los Angeles \u2013 10 years ) , Cal. State\r\nNorthridge-18 years ) Calif. Institute Of The Arts ( 3 years ) .\r\nNumerous Artist-in-Residencies world-wide in Germany,\r\nNetherlands, Belgium, Japan, Canada, Austria.\r\nElected into New Mexico Music Hall Of Fame.
