Concerto for Wind Ensemble &#8220;Games&#8221; by James M. Stephenson invites all instruments and sections to &#8220;join in&#8221;. To add to the game table the percussionists will perform on a bingo ball machine, coin flips, deck of cards, rock\/paper\/scissors, and dice. The gamers could be major vs. minor, high pitch vs. low pitch, brass vs. woodwinds, etc. Use your imagination when listening to this Concerto and you&#8217;ll get the idea. Lili Boulanger (1893-1918) wrote some incredibly fascinating works that would truly sparkle as wind band works. It is fortunate Jack Hontz made quality transcriptions of D&#8217;un Matin de Printemps and D&#8217;un Soire Triste. The remaining composition on Games is Hope by Stijn Aertgeerts and no words are needed to convey the feelings of musical optimism and hope by this Dutch composer.
