The writing is very programic for the soloists as well as the accompanying ensemble.  <em>Lift Every Voice and Sing <\/em>is a setting of the hymn by John and James Weldon Johnson.  The alto saxophone sings out in lyric and jazz based music surroundings. The remainder of the recording is a collection of fine grade 1.5 to grade 3 level works that will easily satisfy players and audiences. One interesting grade 3 work is <em>CarTunes<\/em>&#8230;a three movement suite that sounds like it belongs in a certain Pixar movie.
