The brilliant &#8220;Downey Overture&#8221; by Oscar Navarro is the opening work on this superlative recording.  &#8220;Fascinating Ribbons&#8221; is by noted composer Joan Tower. This is Tower&#8217;s first work exclusively for band. &#8220;A Colour Symphony&#8221; (Symphony No. 3) is Philip Sparke&#8217;s challenging five movement, third symphony for band. Colors and their implications have been the subject of varied music works such as &#8220;A Color Symphony&#8221; for orchestra (Arthur Bliss), and &#8220;Sketches in Color&#8221; for piano (Robert Starer). &#8220;Funeral March, in memory of Rikard Nordraak&#8221; (Edward Greig) is well known in three settings; piano, brass choir, and this version for band.
