Remembrances features a varied program of American and British compositions splendidly performed by the LWBB. Danceries by Kenneth Hesketh has also enjoyed frequent performances in its setting for traditional concert band instrumentation. The True and Tender North (Philip Wilby) for brass band and organ is dedicated to the LWBB and its founders…listen for some references to Sousa hidden in the middle section. Music of Jack Stamp and Michael Halstenson adorn the program with fresh new settings of familiar tunes attributed to Holst, Beethoven and the Navy Hymn along with some exquisite original works. The recording concludes with the third movement of Symphony No. 2 “Romantic” (Howard Hanson) masterfully transcribed by the LWBB’s Soprano E-flat Cornetist Mike Serber. Remembrances is a first class recording and offers a little something different for your band library.

Listen to recording

by Kenneth Hesketh Album Title: Lake Wobegon* Brass BandRecording:San Francisco Wind SymphonyConductor: Michael HalstensonSoloist: Bill Chouinard – organPublisher: MARK MASTERS 54498-MCD Purchase *Lake Wobegon is used by permission of Garrison Keillor and Minnesota Public Radio.
