In addition to featuring four works for instrumental soloists the ensemble program is most satisfying. The soloists are Dr. Nancy Boston (piano) on Rhapsody in Blue (Gershwin), Christopher Medick (timpani) on Raise the Roof (Daugherty), Dr. Susan Laib (oboe) on Variations on a Theme by Glinka for Oboe and Military Band (Rimsky-Korsakov/Steinke) and Theodore Lentz (euphonium) on Symphonic Variants (J.Curnow). Those works alone would constitute a solid recording but the ensemble also adds their musical finery. The ensemble performs Toccata Marziale (Vaughan Williams), Circuits (McTee), Sonoran Desert Holiday (Nelson) and The Trombone King (King/Paynter). Another one of Mansfield University’s best.

Listen to recording

By Cindy McTee Album Title: GUSTO!
