As part of my training, I spent nearly ten years in Germany, coaching with acclaimed soloist Heinz Holliger in Freiburg, Germany and Christian Schneider at the Cologne Conservatory. While living in Europe I free-lanced with the Freiburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Ensemble Cologne, Ensemble Avance and at the Staatstheater in Stuttgart. In 2009, I toured with celebrated British Organist, Martin Neary, Queen Elizabeth’s personal organist of Westminster Abbey, giving recitals in London and St. Phillips Cathedral in Birmingham. I have performed with the Bach Aria Festival of NY, the Cabrillo Festival for Contemporary Music in CA, the Oregon Bach Festival and Sunriver Music Festivals. In the United States and Europe, I have worked under conductors Helmuth Rilling, Matthew Halls, Marin Alsop, Nicholas McGegan, Jeffrey Kahane, Bobby McFerrin and Carlos Kalmar.
In 2012, I founded The Central Oregon Youth Orchestra program. As one of the youngest youth orchestra programs in the United States, COYO has collaborated with nationally recognized guest artists, string pedagogues from the Pacific Northwest, brass pedagogues from the East and West Coasts and the Portland Youth Philharmonic, the longest standing youth orchestra in the country. In 2015 COYO collaborated with two-time Grammy winning composer Christopher Tin from Santa Monica, CA. In 2015 COYO accepted an invitation to perform at Carnegie Hall, which featured the NY premiere of Tin’s Iza Ngomso from his album The Drop That Contained The Sea.
Throughout my career, I have remained an advocate and new music enthusiast. I have enjoyed collaborating, commissioning, premiering and recording new works by composers from Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Central America, South America and the United States. In 2014, I was invited to participate in a national commissioning consortium in a new work by American Composer John Harbison.
As a member of the Oregon Bach Festival, I performed as second oboe to Allan Vogel, Principal of the LA Chamber Orchestra for over a decade. During this time OBF premiered new works and made numerous recordings under Helmuth Rilling on the Hänssler Classic label. I have also recorded for Deutsche Gramophone, Koch/Schwann, Aulos, Antes and Equilibrium labels.
Presently, I am teaching drama at the Thomas MacLaren School in Colorado Springs, CO and serving as a lecturer for oboe at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. I also perform as a substitute oboist with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestra. Best moments are watching my son Alexander as a young cellist and writer, as well as lover of animals we have 5 pets! and playing gigs with my husband Andy, my favorite cellist!
