Bonnie Denton

Bonnie Denton served 20 years as a military musician playing euphonium with both the United States Military Academy Band at West Point and the United States Coast Guard Band where she enjoyed performing for audiences both nationally and internationally. While happily soloing on occasion, Bonnie’s true joy is as an ensemble musician. After graduating from Interlochen Arts Academy, Bonnie earned a Bachelor of Music Education and Performance from Ithaca College and began graduate studies at Eastman School of Music, where she later served as sabbatical replacement for her teacher, Mark Kellogg. She enjoyed two summers at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia playing in the Festhaus Band and one summer as a strolling musician at HersheyPark in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Throughout her career, Bonnie has taught private students of all ages. Since retiring from the military, Bonnie has been spending a lot of time on a meditation cushion and yoga mat, exploring the intersections of art and mindfulness and wondering how to combine the two in the next phase of her life. When not actively playing euphonium, Bonnie enjoys teaching mindfulness and meditation to anyone who will come to her classes. She and her husband Rich (a recently retired Coast Guard Band tuba player) live in southeastern Connecticut and make frequent trips to Ithaca, New York to catch their son Henry in various concerts as he pursues a degree in vocal performance and music education.
